Happiness t-Shrts: high spirits and high design for Spring/Summer 2013

Happiness Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

For a label mostly known for its t-shirts, Happiness isn't what you'd expect. With roots that are a mix of Italian and Los Angeles design styles, it's that rare pairing of high-end European sensibilities and chilled-out West Coast street style.

Happiness Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

Balancing top-notch construction with super forward, casual design isn't always easy. But the result with Happiness is an a look that's vibrant and upbeat, making the label totally worthy of its name.

And this season is looking particularly positive, with a Spring/Summer 2013 collection and campaign that's fun as ever.

Happiness Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

Beachside cool and a bit of a rock edge show up in their  newest lineup of cool printed tees, from the vampy glam of their Love T-Shirt to playful vintage-inspired prints, like their Bicycle T-Shirt.

Happiness Spring Summer 2013 Campaign

Though on-trend prints and cool finishes – like the textured skull on the Rock Stud T-Shirt  – are a big draw of Happiness' current collection, the clincher is in the construction.

Cool on its own is good. But when it somes along with high-end construction, good fit, and all-around quality, that's pure Happiness.

Paradise lost: One Teaspoon's new 'Fallen Angel' collection and campaign

Everyone's favorite rebel of Australian fashion, One Teaspoon, is back at Buzz Jeans. And surprise, surprise, for their latest campaign, they've taken inspiration from that most rebellious of mythological figures, the fallen angel.

Technically, 'Fallen Angel' is One Teaspoon's Winter 2013 collection, but because the seasons are all upside down in Australia, we'd consider it a Summer 2013 collection.

Regardless, the look here ever so subtly plays on the motif of an outcast angel, with a mix of soft and hard elements that One Teaspoon is certainly no stranger to.

And that mix of heavenly and edgy is there too in our latest arrivals from the label.

Rockstar-worthy distressed denim cutoffs get a glamorous sequin treatment in their Sequin Romeos shorts, a theme One Teaspoon played with in a longer pant featured in the campaign.

And more feminine styles, like dresses and rompers, get a stern light-and-dark color treatment, or juxtaposition of soft texture and distressing, like the London Boys Calling romper, for instance.

Likewise, harder line menswear cuts and silhouettes are softened by feminine influences.

You can see this yin-yang of masculine and feminine throughout the 'Fallen Angel' campaign in tailored jackets with soft colors and textures, and within the collection itself in styles like the menswear-inspired Shadow Boxer Tux Shirt.

Though it's still got quite an edge, this collection (and this campaign) are a bit of a romantic turn for One Teaspoon. Kind of like a rockstar wild child painted with an Italian renaissance brush.

But it's that layering of mood, tecture and gender that make 'Fallen Angel' such an interesting and multi-faceted collection.

Much like the actual fallen angels of mythology, this latest effort from one of our best-loved Aussie brands is at once strong and fragile, beautiful, but just a touch dark.

Good girls gone bad: Buzz Jeans' summer 2013 style guide

Good girls don't just go bad on their own. Usually, there's negative influence to blame. And with our latest summer 2013 style guide, Buzz Jeans is looking to be that influence.

We don't at all mind being the bad apple that spoils the whole bunch if that means bringing you the coolest and edgiest summer fashion from some of our favorite designers.

Bodysuit by Style Stalker, Shorts by One Teaspoon, Shoes by Jeffrey Campbell

Of course, not all the looks we shot for this high-end editorial are naughty – we'll cover the "nice girl" looks in part two – but we thought we'd start things off on a rebellious note with kickass cutoffs, crop tops, and sky-high platforms from notoriously bold labels like One Teaspoon, WildfoxObey, Mother and Jeffrey Campbell.

Top by Obey

Even if you're a good girl at heart, looking like a bad seed can actually be pretty empowering. And the trick to achieving this look is all about bold choices.

Dare to show a little skin with a distressed denim short, like faded, two-toned and leopard print One Teaspoon styles we've featured. And mixing sweet elements with harder pieces will keep the "rebel girl" look balanced – we paired both a lacy Style Stalker bodysuit and a heart motif Wildfox top with booty shorts to get this style.

Finally, since this look is all about guts, stand tall in a pair of cuh-razy heels. We couldn't resist outfitting our model in these star-spangled platforms from Jeffrey Campbell.

They may be pretty out there, but hey, you've got to be borderline insane if you're going to be one of summer 2013's fashion badasses.

The clothes make the man: Buzz Jeans' Summer 2013 style guide

The Buzz Jeans team has been back in studio again.

For our latest fashion editorial, we braved bright lights, dozens of outfit changes, and hundreds of shots, all to bring you a summer style guide showcasing the coolest new menswear for the season ahead.

Our look for summer 2013 brings together styles from top labels like Obey, Stussy, PenfieldSol Angeles, and AG Jeans, with footwear from the likes of Vans and New Balance.

The result? A really laid-back but cosmopolitain vibe that finds the perfect center between beach and street.

Relaxed tees, printed shorts and deck shoes channel a carefree SoCal mood, while camos and sporty tanks make for a gritty, urban feel, as in our bike messenger look above.

Top by Obey, Jeans by AG

But we've thrown a bit of prep into this summer's style guide, adding a sharp and clean element to looks that feature bolder  pieces.

Simple tops, sweaters and shorts in bright solids and lightweight outerwear in earth-tone neutrals pair with nautical, floral and camo prints for a well-rounded men's summer wardrobe.

What we're going for here is something that's strong and punchy without being too loud. It's a look that's easy to wear, as summer apparel should be.

After all, summer is pretty much tantamount to a three month-long weekend. So your vibe – and your look – should be comfortable, fun, and just a bit playful.

Dr. Marten's Spring/Summer 2013 campaign: The glamour of grit and grunge

While most labels are out there pushing their spring and summer 2013 collections with beautiful photography, gorgeous people and idyllic locales, Dr. Martens is doing things a little differently.

In their latest campaign, the heritage footwear maker with a hard edge  has shown just how well it knows its audience. You won't find listless models posing in perfectly manicured gardens here.

Instead, the look and feel of the campaign is totally in keeping with the rock show-going, beer-spilling, wasted-kissing lifestyle of the people who can best appreciate a good pair of docs.

Dr. Martens may have changed over the years. Their latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection features floral motifs, as in the Castel Vintage or 1460W Mini Tydee, which is something relatively new for the punky boot and shoe brand.

But there's one thing about Docs that hasn't changed; they're still the go-to for people who prefer life a little rough around the edges.

The new campaign is a bit of a "day in the life" sort of deal.

Starting with what looks like a seriously hung-over morning, we follow a group of guys and girls as they idly while away the hours smoking cigarettes in a ghetto high-rise, drinking cans of beer in a run-down playground, and finally repairing to some slummy bar to cap things off.

It may seem like a bit of a risk to have your campaign feature tattooed models swearing, smoking and drinking cheap liquor, rather than looking camera-ready and flawless.

But what Dr. Martens (and the people who love them) realize that most others don't is that there's a certain glamour to grit and grunge that's somehow more appealing than idealized images of perfection.

Anyone who can recall a sweaty kiss in a seedy bar with someone they probably shouldn't be kissing will know what that means.

Likewise, anyone who'd rather jam at a friend's shitty apartment than hit the clubs, or who prefers a kick-ass pair of Docs to heels on a Saturday night is already toeing that line between filthy and fabulous.

Wanderlust: Bless'ed Are The Meek's desert mirage for Summer 2013

From 'Wanderlust,' Bless'ed Are The Meek's Summer 2013 Campaign

In case you hadn't noticed, Australia's been quickly becoming one of the best sources for new fashion labels. And, for the past couple of years at least, Sydney-based Bless'ed Are The Meek has been at the forefront of this re-imagining of the land down under.

From 'Wanderlust,' Bless'ed Are The Meek's Summer 2013 Campaign

With their latest Summer 2013 campaign, shot in the arid Northern Territory of Australia, Bless'ed Are The Meek makes no apologies about being among the Aussie newcomers to the traditionally European fashion industry,

Instead, with 'Wanderlust,' as well as with the accompanying collection, you get a window into just what makes Australia such a special place for fashion right now.

From 'Wanderlust,' Bless'ed Are The Meek's Summer 2013 Campaign

The campaign, which uses the weathered and dry desert landscape as a backdrop for its newest array of modern, feminine dresses sums up what it is we love about the brand's unique perspective: clean and stark but sweeping and romantic.

And all of those elements are out in full force in our latest arrivals from Bless'ed Are The Meek.

Again, the label puts a its emphasis on dresses that are at once dramatic and austere, with  solid styles like their Ritual and Ritual Maxi dresses, as well as patterned looks like Enchanted and Siren Queen dresses.

And just in case you thought the desert setting of the latest 'Wanderlust' campaign was just an arbitrary backdrop for Bless'ed Are The Meek's latest styles, think again.

As one of the label's designers, Maria Maung explained in interview:

"The initial inspiration for the Wanderlust collection came from the idea of being in open spaces, places that transcend time. I had seen the work Australian artist Murray Fredericks who captures landscapes that look so surreal, and so it was natural progression to explore the Northern Territory's Red Centre [...] so surreal and mysterious."

You can check out the latest collection from Bless'ed Are The Meek at the Buzz Jeans shop or take a look at a behind the scenes video from their latest campaign, below.
